Over 650 graduate at Northwest's winter commencement ceremonies

MARYVILLE, Mo. - Hundreds of Northwest Missouri State University students took their big walk across the stage. The university awarded 657 bachelor's degrees, master's degrees and education specialist certificates during their two winter commencement ceremonies.

Northwest President Dr. John Jasinski, told the graduates on Friday that the commencement was setting the stage for the next chapter in their lives. Northwest's 2020 recipient of the Governor's Award for Excellence in Education John Car addressed graduates and their families during the ceremonies as well.

The university said in a news release that 21 percent of the 2019 class graduated with honors, with 15 students earning the highest honor, of summa cum laude.
